Forgiveness in Islam

Forgiveness in Islam

Ghafoor is an Arabic word. Its literal meaning is forgiveness. In Islamic terminology, showing mercy and forgiving the offender and showing tolerance and kindness towards him is called au'fu or forgiveness, despite the power to retaliate for wrongful oppression. It is a sign of greatness. Man is the caliph or representative of Allah. Au'fu or forgiveness is one of the virtues that must be acquired in fulfilling the responsibilities of the caliphate. Allah is Most Forgiving. He always forgives the sins of His servants. From his perspective, he has been called Gafur and Ghaffar. If Allah had not forgiven His servants, then no human being would have been spared in the world. That is why Allah loves the person who forgives other people's sins by adopting Allah's forgiveness attribute. If you divorce (the wife) after fixing the dowry before touching it, she must also pay for the dowry. Of course, if women forgive, it is a different matter. And if you forgive, it will be nearer to abstinence. And don't forget about mutual sympathy. Indeed, whatever you do, Allah sees it very well. (Surat al-Baqarah: 237) Those who spend in prosperity and in times of want (in the way of Allah), who restrain their anger and forgive people, verily Allah loves the Muhsin people. (Surah Al-Imran: 134) If you do good openly or in secret or if you forgive sins, then know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, All-Mighty. (Surah An-Nisa: 134)

Cultivate the habit of forgiveness, enjoin good deeds, and stay away from foolish jahils (talk). (Surah A'raf: 134) Narrated by Ayesha (RA) she said, whenever the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was given the authority to undertake one of two tasks, he would undertake the easier one. If there was no sin in it. And if it was an act of sin, he would have stayed far away from it. And Prophet (SAW) did not take any revenge for himself. But if one indulged in a forbidden act prescribed by Allah, He would punish him for that sin in order to obey Allah's order. (Abu Dawood Hadith-4785)

Remembrance of Allah's, way of getting forgiveness in Islam

Allah Ta'ala says, 'O (My) servants! Remember me through my worship. That is, continue to worship me; (Then) I will remember you by giving forgiveness. That is, I will forgive your sins. In order to obtain forgiveness, one should not be limited to remembering Allah or worshiping Him, but one should thank Allah and not disobey Him. In a small verse of the Holy Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala has clearly stated these words:

'Fadhkuruniy aadhkurkum w ashkurua liy w la takfurun'

'Therefore remember me; I will also remember you and be grateful to me and do not be ungrateful.' (Surah Baqarah: Verse 152)

Remembrance of Allah means doing Ziqir Azakar, worshiping, and obeying His commandments in practice. Prophet (saw) has described in the hadith Qudsi, 'How to remember Allah Ta'ala. Thanking Allah Ta'ala is the means of obtaining the favor of the servant. What method Allah follows in giving grace to the servant, is also mentioned in this hadith-

On the authority of Hazrat Ibn Abbas (RA), he said, Prophet (saw) said about the mentioned verse, Allah Taala said, 'O (My) servants! Remember me through my worship. That is, continue to worship me; (Then) I will remember you by giving forgiveness. That is, I will forgive your sins.

Those who remember Allah Ta'ala, perform worship, dhikr-Azkar; May Allah becomes them. In another narration of Qudsi in Hadith-

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that Prophet (saw) said, 'Allah Ta'ala says, 'As the slave thinks of me, so I am to him. And when that servant remembers me; then I became him.

By remembering and expressing gratitude to Allah, people are freed from the harm of Satan in addition to receiving His forgiveness. The greatest benefit of worshiping Allah or obeying His commandments is that Satan cannot harm people. The devil moved away from that servant. It is mentioned in the hadith-

On the authority of Hazrat Abdullah Shakiq (RA), the Prophet (saw) said, 'There are two chambers in the heart of every human being. One is inhabited by angels and the other by Satan. When people are busy with the Zikir-Azkar of Allah; then the devil moved away. And when one becomes heedless of Ziqir, Satan places his lips in (man's) heart and gives evil advice.'

So people should remember Allah. Thanking God. Don't deny him. Not turning away from Zikir-Azkar. And there will be forgiveness and deliverance from Satan's harm.

In the life of the world, people are free from all ignorance, it is very important to follow a small hadith of the Prophet (saw) to win in Amali Zindagi. They are-

“Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates that Prophet (saw) said, "The people of 'Mofarad' have become victorious." Companions asked, O Messenger of God! Who are the mofarrad people? He said, "Men and women who remember Allah more."

May Allah Ta'ala grant tawfiq to the believing Muslim to spend his time in every aspect of his life through his remembrance, commandments, and worship, in order to achieve the virtues, declared in the hadith.
