What are good deeds in Islam? Their benefits

Everyone wants his life to be good and blessed. For this, people spend all their talents, labor, and resources. But the real good life is given to those whom Allah, the Exalted, bestows. The following are some of the Good deeds that make human life better:

i. Believing: In the Holy Qur’an, Allah the Almighty says, ‘And give glad tidings to those who believe and do Good deeds that for them is Paradise, beneath which rivers flow. (Surah al-Baqara, verse 25)

ii. Practicing Taqwa: Allah the Almighty said, ‘And if the people of those towns had believed and practiced Taqwa, we would certainly have opened for them the blessings of the heavens and the earth. (Surah: A'raf, verse: 96)

iii. Tawakkul: That is to rely on Allah. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah the Almighty says, ‘And whoever relies on Allah, the Almighty is sufficient for him. (Surah Talaq, verse 3)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If you were truly dependent on Allah, then you would be provided with food in the same way as the birds. They go out on an empty stomach in the morning and return on a full stomach in the evening. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2344)

iv. Maintaining kinship relations: Anas (RA) said that Rasulullah (saw) said, ‘Whoever wants to increase his sustenance and longevity should keep the kinship relationship intact. (Abu Dawood, Hadith: 1693)

v. Giving alms: It has been said in the Holy Qur'an, ‘Say, Allah abolishes usury and increases charity. (Surat al-Baqara, Ayat: 276)

vi. Giving thanks for blessings: Allah Almighty says, "If you are grateful, I will give you more, and if you are ungrateful, then surely my punishment is severe." (Surah: Ibrahim, verse: 7)

vii. Forgiveness: It has been said in the Holy Qur'an, 'Then I said: Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely, He is the Forgiving, He will send down abundant rain for you and He will enrich you of wealth and children, and will establish gardens and flow rivers and canals for yours. (Surah: Noah, verses: 10-12)

viii. Satisfaction with a little: Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘When there is an abundance of wealth, one does not become rich, the rich in the heart is the real rich. (Bukhari, Hadith: 6446)

ix. Seeing fewer wealthy people than yourself: Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said: Look at the people who are less wealthy than you (in worldly matters) and not at the people who are richer than you. In this, the blessings bestowed by Allah on you will not seem insignificant. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2513)

x. Praying for others: Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that when a Muslim servant prays for him in the absence of his brother, an angel replies to him, ‘and the same for you. (Muslim, Hadith: 6820)

xi. Greeting when entering the house: Anas (RA) said, the Messenger of Allah (saw) said to me, O son, when you go to your family, greet. It will benefit you and your family. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2698)
